Resonium-Calcium (non-prescription drug) is an ion exchanger that removes potassium from the body by replacing it with calcium. This happens mainly in the large intestine. Resonium-Calcium is used to lower too high levels of potassium in the blood in acute and chronic kidney failure. Can also be used as an adjunct to dialysis treatment. Resonium-Calcium is a powder that can be stirred up and taken by mouth, or it can be prepared as an enema and given in the rectum.
How to use the product:
Removes potassium from the body by replacing it with calcium. The recommended dose for adults is: 1 level measuring spoon (approx. 15 g) 3-4 times a day. The powder is given mixed in a little water, porridge, juice (not fruit juice due to its high potassium content) or jam. Calculate approx. 3-4 ml of juice or similar per gram of powder. Can also be given as an enema, prepared at the pharmacy.
