Maxon Forte is sildenafil in a higher dose (50 mg) available without a prescription. The drug makes it easier to get and keep an erection. Maxon Forte should not be used by men for whom a lower dose of sildenafil (25 mg) is effective.
Indications
Maxon Forte is intended for men who experience problems with erectile dysfunction – are unable to achieve or maintain a sufficient erection for sexual intercourse.
Contraindications
Maxon forte should not be used in case of allergy to the active substance (sildenafil) or excipients.
A contraindication is also the use of drugs from the group of nitrates, substances that release nitric oxide (including the so-called poppers). Medicines of this type are used medicinally to relieve the symptoms of angina (chest pain). Their combination with sildenafil can cause a severe and dangerous drop in blood pressure. The drug riociguat (used in pulmonary arterial hypertension) has a similar interaction.
Maxon Forte is also contraindicated in the event of severe heart disease, liver disease, recent stroke or heart attack, low blood pressure, hereditary retinal degenerative changes, or if the patient has ever been diagnosed with loss of vision as a result of non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy.
