Lidocaine, as a local anesthetic, causes a decrease in the sensitivity of sensory nerve endings in the area of application.
Chlorhexidine has bacteriostatic and bactericidal properties, especially against Gram-positive and to a lesser extent Gram-negative bacteria. It also has an antifungal effect against Candida albicans. It acts by inhibiting the activity of membrane enzymes of these microorganisms and disrupting the membrane permeability for potassium ions, amino acids and nucleotides
