What is Dr. St. John’s wort made from? Popova writes:
The herbal base of the ointment is fragrant galium (Galium Odoratum), also known as St. John’s wort. Blackberries grow in deciduous forests, in clearings and on forest paths. It grows to a height of 40 cm, the leaves of the plant form whorls of six to nine members. Swiesel has tiny white flowers that bloom from May to June. It is during this period that the grass is collected.
St. John’s wort is widely used today in healing and medicine, the collected part is the stem of the plant. It contains a number of active substances, the most important of which are coumarins, glycosides and tannins.
The basis of the ointment is purified lard (extracted with hot steam), which in its composition resembles human fat. In general, lard is one of the best ointment bases: it is very well absorbed into the skin, is a high-quality carrier of medicinal substances contained in herbs and is used to treat various dermatitis. Although various synthetic substances are currently widely used, high-quality lard cannot yet replace anything in ointments.

Why do burdock oil contain other herbs:
The effect of St. John’s wort is enhanced in the ointment by other herbs: horsetail, birch, green tea and thyme. The effects of these herbs complement each other and enhance the properties of sedge.
How to use burdock ointment correctly:
We recommend washing the affected area with soap-free water and drying thoroughly before applying the ointment. The ointment is applied in a thin layer to the skin so that it does not clog the pores. We use St. John’s wort ointment 2-3 times a day (or as needed), gently rubbing it into the skin for 2-3 minutes.
