Water – building block of our life
There is probably no other element that plays such an important role in our body and our health as water. The human body consists of about 70% of it, whereby the proportion depends on age, Gender and also the general physical condition can vary. So women generally have one Approx. 5-10% higher water content than men and also in athletes with a higher muscle and lower body fat percentage the water content is significantly increased, since muscle tissue stores more water than fat.
In general, water is found almost everywhere in the body, e.g. B. in our blood vessels, in the body cells and also in the tissue between the cells. The tasks are diverse – it serves, similar to blood, e.g. for the transport of nutrients to the cells and organs, it is instrumental involved in the regulation of body temperature and removes waste products from the body’s metabolism.
Too much water – is that even possible?
That’s fine! Namely when harmful water retention (oedema) occurs because our connective tissue absorbs water like a sponge – usually recognizable by swollen legs, swollen fingers or a bloated appearance. The reasons for such storage can be very different, e.g. B. Heart, vein or kidney weakness and also the intake of certain medicines. But also general Life circumstances can be the reason for these harmful and superfluous storages, such as lack of exercise (e.g. due to sedentary or long-term standing job), obesity, salty food, heat or hormone fluctuations.
