Modified Cooper’s alcohol is an antiseptic used to disinfect healthy skin and small superficial wounds.
Antiseptics do not sterilize: they temporarily limit the number of microorganisms. Ethanol at 70° has an antibacterial effect on Gram+ and Grambacteria (vegetative forms).
Different types of wounds
The term “wound” refers to any rupture of the skin or mucous membranes caused by mechanical force.
Definition of a simple wound
A simple wound, as discussed here, means a break in the superficial skin or a scratch. A single wound does not cause severe bleeding. It is not located near the eye or natural opening.
Types of wounds
The term “wound” can cover a wide variety of lesions.
The two main types of ulcers that can be treated at home without consultation are cuts and scrapes (or abrasions). The latter are usually a consequence of the movement that caused the friction (for example, a fall). Often there are foreign bodies encrusted in the wound. This debris and impurities increase the risk of infection.
