Composition and Mechanism of Action
Thiocodin is a combination medication containing two active ingredients:
- Codeine phosphate (15 mg) – An opioid alkaloid that suppresses the cough reflex in the medulla oblongata
- Terpin hydrate (300 mg) – An expectorant that stimulates bronchial gland secretion
The drug provides dual action:

Indications for Use
- Dry, debilitating cough caused by:
- Acute respiratory infections
- Tracheitis
- Bronchitis
- Pleurisy
- Preparation for bronchoscopy
Dosage and Administration
- Adults: 1 tablet 2-3 times daily
- Adolescents (12+ years): ½ tablet 2-3 times daily
- Maximum daily dose:
- Adults – 4 tablets (60 mg codeine)
- Adolescents – 2 tablets (30 mg codeine)
- Duration of treatment: No longer than 5 days

⚠ Contraindications:
- Children under 12 years
- Asthma
- Respiratory failure

- Concurrent use with MAO inhibitors
